UPB Brings Back Adult Training!

UPB Brings Back Adult Training!

For the past three weeks, ten individuals have been spending their Sunday mornings working on their game at Unlimited Potential Basketball. In the Adult Group Training sessions, these athletes have been getting back to the fundamentals of basketball and have shown improvement throughout each session.

The last week of this clinic is this upcoming Sunday, January 29th, but the next set of Adult Training classes are officially set for next month! These classes will be held on Sundays at 8AM starting February 5th to March 12th, and athletes must sign for all six weeks. You can click here to sign up!

During the sessions, the athletes start up with a warm up and make their way into form shooting. During the form shooting, the athletes focus on their mechanics to have the proper form, and even add in different jumps and leg movements to work on their balance. They then work on finishes around the rim while adding in Mikans, floaters and both underhand and overhand finishes to their drills. Dribble moves into shots are next on the rundown and to finish off the session, the athletes end on ball handling.

Player Development Coach, Sara Anastasieska, has been working with these athletes for the entire duration of these sessions, and she said that the athletes have unquestionably improved from week one. From form shooting, to fitness level, to grasping the information and instruction, the athletes have proven that they take their development seriously.

“I believe the athletes have thoroughly enjoyed their time and have learned a lot through the process,” Anastasieska said. “Some have sent in emails expressing their enjoyment and how much they have learned, and others have expressed their desire for the program to continue through additional months as they love it! It has been great to receive this feedback.”

One of the athletes that attend the sessions, Vasanth Ramamurthy, has been playing basketball on and off for 20 years, and has recently been playing basketball with a group that rents out a high school gym. He had been looking for classes to improve his game, and said when he came across UPB on Google, he reached out to UPB asking if the facility offered adult group training.

At the time, UPB did not offer the classes, but once the classes were offered, we made sure Ramamurthy was notified and we are happy he is able to attend the sessions. Ramamurthy said he has already recommended the Adult Group Training sessions to other athletes and is already signed up for the next set of classes!

“Since I have never been coached, I was looking to learn the fundamentals and [have] someone with experience point out what I am doing wrong, or right for that matter,” Ramamurthy said. “I have learn[ed] that I have a lot more to learn and improve my game. I thought I had plateaued, but I think I still have some room to grow and I am excited about that.”
