Josh Sangalang has been enamored by digital content and photography for as long as he can remember. From the second he picked up a camera at the age of nine, he has focused on the craft of capturing images that portray the world the way he sees it. Here at Unlimited Potential Basketball, we are excited to welcome Sangalang as our digital content intern and are looking forward to the content he will create for the brand.

Sangalang, 25, was born and raised in Vallejo, California. He grew up playing a variety of sports highlighted by basketball and wrestling. In addition to photography and sports, Sangalang finds interest in playing video games, collecting trading cards, and collecting vintage clothing and shoes. Sangalang comes from a very tight-knit family who he cherishes spending time with during his free time as well.

Sangalang brings a great deal of passion for creative content and expertise in capturing captivating images and film. As a content creation intern at UPB, he will lead the charge in producing content on UPB’s social platforms by capturing film and photos of different workouts and events at the facility. In addition to his technical expertise behind the camera, Sangalang is knowledgeable about the importance of content and media and seeks to use his experience to help spread awareness about the UPB brand.

“Content is everywhere. You open your phone or even when you're driving around, you know, billboards, ads, [they are] everywhere, even if you listen to the radio, that's all content,” Sangalang said. “Whether we like it or not, our whole lives are surrounded by content, so why not try to add my own way of creating content into the world for people to enjoy as well?”

Sangalang has been following the UPB brand from the very beginning. He first heard about UPB through his brother who happens to be Coach Packie Turner’s barber.  From the outside looking in, he admired how far the brand has come in such a short amount of time and is looking forward to doing his part in helping the brand reach new heights. As a new member of the UPB family, he appreciates how community-oriented UPB is and how everyone has welcomed him with open arms. He is excited to help maximize the potential UPB has as a brand and strives to help spread the word of what UPB has to offer beyond the boundaries of the Bay Area.

“The impact that I am hoping to bring is to be able to show people who haven't haven't had the chance yet to come to the gym or experience UPB who we are and the culture that we promote here,” Sanglanag said. “I want to make [people who see our content] excited. I want to make them want to come to UPB even if they're not from here. I want them to see UPB as a tourist destination,” Sangalang remarked.

A big part of the UPB culture that Sangalang embraces and seeks to capture is how we help our community realize that their potential is unlimited. Whether it be through basketball skills or mental health practices, here at UPB we seek to help our athletes reach new heights. While the lessons we teach here are focused on the sport of basketball, we are confident that the skills our athletes learn go beyond the sport and are transferable to other aspects of life. Sangalang seeks to not only capture this culture through his content, but also to embody the idea of reaching new heights and realizing his potential is unlimited through the impact that he makes. His biggest advice for realizing that one’s potential is unlimited: just breathe.

“When I look back at the things that I was doing at a young age, in terms of basketball or even going to a photo shoot, I got so caught up in my head. And you don't really focus on performing or doing the thing that you were there to do. So I definitely think that one thing would just be definitely breathe, collect yourself, and just be yourself,” Sangalang said.

We are excited to bring Sangalang aboard and are looking forward to all the content he will produce and the contribution he will make on growing the UPB brand!
